Bishopston, in Bristol West constituency, spans the Gloucester Road area of the city, including the area in Ashley Down around the cricket ground, up to the Bristol Rovers memorial stadium and across to the corner of Kellaway Road and Cranbrook Rd.
Bishopston has a population of just over 13,000 people with an above average number of people under the age of 30. About one in every 12 people living there is from an ethnic minority. There are three primary schools (Ashley Down, St Bonaventure’s and Bishop Road) and the Ashley Down campus for City of Bristol College, where so many of the city’s young people gain qualifications – all of which had significant investment made by the Labour government.
Secondary school students here go to either Fairfield School or Redland Green School – two schools built by the local authority, started under Labour locally with funding from the then Labour government.
